Another Chaotic Day

I’ve been in a permanent state of chaos today. Firstly, I had to push and shove heavy furniture out of the way for the chap to come and fit my new blinds. He was half an hour late, with no apology, and made a heck of a lot of dust which he didn’t attempt to clear up. The blinds do look nice, though. However, any pleasure in them was stolen from me by undergoing the most tremendous stress levels all day long. I was forwarded yet another late enquiry from my buyer’s solicitor, after I had been assured there would be no more queries. I wasted the whole morning trying to contact various people (one of whom was queuing at the time to drive onto a ferry in Norway!), and writing several texts and emails to get it sorted, all with the noise of masonry drilling going on from the dust-creating fitter.

After shovelling down some lunch, I drove over to Sainsbury’s for the much-needed grocery shopping. The mobile rang on my journey back, which I couldn’t pull over anywhere to answer. It was the estate agent. There followed an intense couple of hours of more phone calls and emails flying around between estate agent, me, removal company and both the solicitors. All this, and we still haven’t exchanged contracts!!! More hassle to come this week, I fear.

My old BBC friend Adam happened to be doing some filming in Colchester today, and I am so happy that he popped by the bungalow late this afternoon before setting off back to his home in Hampshire. We had a walk up to the village centre and the church, and visited Mum and Dad’s grave (Adam had met them both many years ago). He loved the bungalow and the garden - like me, he prefers to let nature take over a bit because it’s better for the birds and other wildlife than a neat and over-tidied garden. The clematis are just opening out now, such a beautiful colour with the sun shining through the petals. It was wonderful to spend some time chatting and catching up with a dear friend who I have known for such a long time, and it has cheered me up no end after such a chaotic day.
