Not a Day For Sunbathing

Another dreary cloudy rainy day here at the cottage....with not much to report..other than an almost close-encounter with wildlife! 

Some of those wild-life encounters are ones you want to avoid eg: I am bringing in the bird feeders every night now after they got destroyed by a night-time visitor when my sister was here, and the kind of damage done to them would lead one to think BEAR... Bears are best seen at a distance...like on the back shore..not actually on the island! 

The encounter of which I speak was not scary...It happened when I walked down onto our back deck, a deck to which our dock ramps are attached. (extra) Some years, the water is high enough to come right up to the actual deck surface; at present, it is not that high, but when I stepped onto it, I heard a loud splash (!) and as I looked down I could see what looked like a beaver swimming underwater, out from under that deck to under the dock ramp beside it!  It happened so fast, I missed seeing the whole animal...but his body sure looked a lot like the beaver...So..if it was, what was he doing under that deck, snoozing away up there on the rocks, when he has a perfectly cosy lodge just a few swimming strokes away on the other shore? ( extra) A family spat perhaps? 
 
Curious..but it did add a spark to my dull day! 

PS: brother had to cancel dinner again...boat still won't start. I am leaving the table setting in place just in case ..one of these days...
