Inchkeith in the distance

Cycle ride first thing; cool wind from the West. Not a shorts day ..

Out again in the afternoon to the Northumberland Street association summer party, held in the Central Queen St garden. Substantial overlap with the last garden party, though this crowd carefully avoided any political discussion. There was an opportunity to play with a croquet mallet, and a mild competition to see who could take fewest strokes to get the balls through one hoop from three different starting lines. The grass was rather long and weedy so the mallet had to be firmly swung and struck. Warm and sheltered in the garden.

We have interesting neighbours, including the Edinburgh book fairy.
