Strike a Pose

We all slept well even though the aircon was broken.
I was the only that didn’t know Palma and I was eager to explore.
After a short walk through the streets we arrived at La Vermu in the market for brunch. We enjoyed tortillas, tomato bread, garlic mushrooms, and of course coffee, all served by our most entertaining waiter.
Palma Cathedral sits near the sea. The colour of the stone work looked beautiful in the sun.
Inside the whole building is lit the many stunning stained glass windows on all sides.
The main shopping avenue was amazing . Huge trees lined the street with lots of cafes filled with people chatting, drinking and laughing. There was a small band playing too.
We had a quick pit stop at Bar Bosch for beer and Cava, plus the obligatory people watching.
Caroline treated us to Gelato, obviously an Italian treat but nevertheless delicious. I had a very strong lemon one.
We were all pleased to have a refreshing swim, snooze and sunbath for the rest of the afternoon.
El Camino was our evening dinner destination. They only take reservations and you have a slot and are expected to leave on time! Fortunately Clare had booked it well in advance.
We sat at the bar where we could see the chefs cooking. We shared, Padron peppers, Tomato bread, Olives, salted almonds, courgette flower with goats cheese, French fries with thyme, salt cod fritters, fennel and orange salad, Iberica pork, crème brûlée, cava, vermouth and red wine. It’s been great to try so many different dishes. They all tasted absolutely beautiful.

We finished off the evening at Abaco. It just looks like a wooden door in wall from the outside.
However, I felt like I’d walked into an extravagant medieval Spanish scene when we walked in. It was full of traditional decoration, fresh fruit and flowers adorned large urns, there were heavy drapes and dark wood ceiling and floor panels. Plus lots of large old paintings. We sat outside in a court yard enjoying cocktails with classical music ringing out. They only serve drinks, with cocktails at 17 euros. It’s been a very pleasant day.
