Silver-studded blue
This particular subspecies of silver-studded is found only on the Great Orme in North Wales. It's smaller than those found elsewhere -it's tiny. Unless you have a good book, or know someone who is a bit of an expert, it can be difficult to tell the difference between all the various blue butterflies.
It was wet and dreary today, but we were lucky enough to have a bit of a dry spell. There were plenty of these little butterflies around, but they were mostly sheltering in the undergrowth.
Following our little jaunt around the Great Orme, we made our way down to South Stacks to look for sea birds, but there was no joy with anything there. Visibility was down to zero. We couldn't see the sea or the lighthouse, but we could hear the fog horn!
