Maggie and Isobel Catch Up

Maggie:   He did, did he!?  Jist wait 'till l tell Mrs Gillespie

Isobel: Weel Maggie, l see you're still upset.  Mind on dinnae spik wi' your moo full.

Maggie: Weel nae wunner, me man's sweeming costume is worn oot at the elbows.

Isobel: Ah'm thinking of leaving Blip; they lost a' of my words on my entry for the 31st May this year.  Whit a scunner.

Maggie: Blip, don't give me bloody Blip.  By the way, dinnae turn roond noo but there's that queer coot with a camera.  I hear he's got previous.  Have you no heard aboot the Meenister's wife and what's been gan on at the Manse wi' yon Beadle?  The licht wis on a' nicht.  Her man's awa' in the foothills aroond Ballater, training for the General Assembly. 

Isobel: She can be quite snooty.  All because she's got a cat called Terry.

Maggie:  Onyway, fitivir it wis she's no been able to ride her bike for two weeks.   And it's only a Brompton.

Isobel:  Nithin' surprises me, it mind's me o' the time they were both in the infirmary at the same time.  During the night they had the temerity to push their beds together.

Maggie:  No Isobel, never heed her and Big Bill, we've got international affairs to chat about.

Isobel:   You mean her in Stronnsay and her Mexican penpal?

Maggie: No, mind on we spoke aboot the Austria - Hungarian chicanery which raised things to fever pitch in August 1914.  Surely you mind on that Dragutin Dimitrijević was appointed to the General Staff after he graduated from the Serbian Military Academy? It followed that the milieu in which he circulated was unequivocally masculine.

Isobel: Eh? 

Maggie: Na, na it wisnae you of course, that was fan l wis spikkan tae the coalman.

Isobel: Well l would easily ging and report Big Bill to the Desk sergeant

Maggie: You neep, Big Bill IS the Desk Sargeant.  You must ken him, he's fae Forfar.

Isobel:  Michty, l can't even claik wi'oot getting a rollicking.   What's he going to Forfar for; Onyway, fae here, foo far's Forfar?
