First raspberry
This is the first of our raspberries to ripen. It looks like our canes will produce a bumper crop this year.
Following another night of worry and poor sleep (did we lock my mother's house when we all left after our efforts on Wednesday?) I dragged myself out of bed at the usual time to face the day.
It was Mr hazelh's turn to head south today so I was in sole charge of all duties domestic. These included washing and drying five loads of laundry, always with an eye on the clouds overhead. I was very grateful for Jackie's regular Thursday morning visit, especially when she volunteered for the extra duty of helping to untangle the washed bedlinen and peg it on the line.
Most of the day, however, I was holed up in the study working on the big assets spreadsheet that we have created to catalogue my mother's possessions. Some of this effort was dedicated to sorting out the debacle of Tuesday when I accidentally spent several hours updating the wrong version of the main spreadsheet. I also fielded questions from Northumberland, London, and Manchester related to the identification and dispersal of items that are not going to auction.
Initially we thought that Mr hazelh's muscles would be needed at Mummy hazelh's house both today and tomorrow. However, with the attics all cleared today and most of the heavy lifting duties complete, my middle sister dismissed him this evening. He returned to Edinburgh with a few more boxes of belongings. Amongst these are some colour slides from Daddy hazelh's side of the family. These date from the 1960s and earlier. I can't wait to see them.
It felt like a real bonus to have Mr hazelh back home this evening, especially since today is our wedding anniversary. We celebrated with takeaway scampi and chips and beer at the kitchen table with Mummy hazelh.
Exercise today: 1 hour on the exercise bike.
