Arachnid activity galore

Fascinating structures & inhabitants kept me entertained on this mornings walk across the heath with Indie. I could watch for ages but Indie as always has other ideas, getting impatient, rolling around, attention seeking :-)

An early visit to the allotment, I had a load of soil in my wheelbarrow at home which needed to go to the plot (the road to the allotment site is closed while a new mains water supply pipe is being installed).  Phew! I thought I was pretty fit, well I am until I have to puch a wheelbarrow up hill. I am determined to grow some decent carrots this year, add turnips to that list, as I bought seed at Trago Mills later in the morning. The soil will hopefully improve the soil structure in one bed set aside for root veggies
I watered everything this morning as it was so hot yesterday. Picked the last of the first broad bean crop, pulled up the plants and added them to the compost heap. Picked up half a dozen eggs from Simons rescue hens. £1 a half dozen is a bargain. Walked up to town, picked up a few bits then home. Made coffee for hubby. Another ache this morning. He fell over earlier in the week, hurt his leg, which is healing nicely but now has pain in his back. Ibuprofen & paracetemol administered. Next stop CK. After our walk, Mum & I walked up to the village hall to exchange the jigsaw puzzles we'd completed. Ginger, one of the locals from back in the Anchor days was waiting for the bus so I took Mum over to say hello. The bus stop is right nect to the derelict Anchor Inn site, so Mum & I had a reminisce. The only recognisable bit is part of the downstairs kitchen wall.  It's good for her to see folks,as she does'nt get any visitors nowadays. Back to the village hall I picked out the 500 piece jigsaws then left Mum to choose two new ones while I selected some new reading material. Some interesting titles/authors I'm not familiar with. Loaded up with jigsaws & books we walked home again. Back in Mum's garden we deadheaded the roses before I prepared Mum's lunch.
I've been watering, pruning, & deadheading plants back in my own garden this afternoon inbetween, & after watching the tennis from Eastbourne. The same windy conditions there as here today so a little cooler than yesterday. I hard pruned the rosemary so posted a message on the local Facebook page for people to help themselves to branches I've put out on the step. I really like rosemary, (& garlic) with lamb, but Mum is'nt a fan. She's a mint sauce kinda gal.
