I pottered and relaxed away the morning, had lunch and then walked up to the allotment. I gave everything a very good water since I didn't go there yesterday, and then I noticed the squash. Exciting! They're not butternuts, they're the small, round sort but still good for soups, stews and roasting. I hope I get a good crop because they last months if the skin's undamaged.

Because there's not a lot of space on my plot I've planted the squash at the end of the potatoes. Hopefully they'll grow all the way along that bed, with the potatoes being progressively lifted just in front of them. Well, that's the theory!

I picked more mangetout, and pinched out the tops as they've reached the top of the supports, so I'll eat the shoots too.
