The Clover Is Out

..and so are the bunnies...and yes, that is my "lawn".... yikes..

In the weekend paper there was an article about a herd of goats that were being hired to graze in the meadow lands of Toronto to keep the invasive plants and unwanted saplings from taking over.... It was called a "prescribed grazing".

My heart leapt! There are goats for hire that can tell an invasive plant from one that is wanted? You can actually "prescribe" which plants you want them to munch?  The answer to my prayers! Hire a herd of goats to rid me of that evil gout weed!

But alas, I realized that that is probably not what they meant..that it was just an intentional grazing, and that anything growing in that meadow would be fair game. How could it not be? Otherwise that would be a pretty smart goat!  Anyway, it was a two-day graze and the public were invited to watch..and if I had not been so busy this week, I just might have done that..to be absolutely certain that this breed of goat cannot discern an invasive plant behaving badly from one that I want in my garden. Just to be sure...
