Day Lily Season

July is day lily season, but it is still June and they have been blooming for a week now.  I think that 4-day heatwave brought them on early.  Day Lilies love heat and are very drought tolerant although we've had plenty of rain this year.  It is a stalwart of a country garden.  I have many fancy varieties, but this is the common day lily, sometimes called "ditch lilies" as they seem to grow everywhere.  If I could have only one flower in the garden it would be the day lily.
