Ruddy Darter

I spent a long time trying to get photos of damselflies/darters today at a lake where we were waiting whilst our campervan was repaired. See extras. There was a slight breeze so they kept moving.

We started the day with a tour around a knife making workshop which is part of the France Passion where we spent the night in the campervan. It was fascinating to hear how individualised knives are made. This region is famous for knife making but most of it is automated now. It is a dying craft but they are trying to keep it alive and pass on the knowledge.

Next we visited three garages before we found one that would order and fix a new brake part for the campervan. It is 28 years old so it was tricky to find the right part. The garage was brillant and within four hours it was repaired and we were on our way again.

Tonight we are staying at another France Passion (see yesterday for an explanation). This time it’s a pick your own fruit and vegetable farm. They made us very welcome but we arrived too late to pick our own today so will do it tomorrow morning before heading back to Switzerland. We did buy strawberries and tomatoes for dinner; by far the tastiest we’ve had for years.
