Day 23 - Meissen Cathedral

After lots of perusing of options, such as walking to the station and getting a train to Dresden, or driving to Colditz or Warburg in the end we decided a day spent chilling out here was what was needed. We are right by the river and though the temperature is 37, there’s a cooling breeze. Nevertheless I had to have a cold shower in the afternoon as even sitting in shade was too much.

Ideally I’d like to get to The Hague to Mauritshuis after reading Thunderclap to see Fabritius and other Dutch painters. This is proving to be very difficult. The van is diesel so can’t go into the centre and the P4N and campsites outside are not near public transport. We’ve also looked at Delft which is also a problem. If anyone has any suggesting I’m open to them.

This is a collage of Meissen’s gothic cathedral.

Linda has pulled out of hosting the election night get together so Carol and Phil are coming to us. Let’s hope we can get our own Portillo moment by voting our dreadful MP out. When Portillo was ousted (I nearly said outed) we were at Carole’s count when she reduced the Tory majority from 25,000 to 2,000. I have hope in my heart - but we’ve had so many disappointments I can’t barely acknowledge it.
