Holly Buddy
Today's image is another in my just outside my backdoor series and also a bit of a one shot 'wonder' (which might be stretching the actual meaning of that word to breaking point!).
The weather was pretty awful all day today and certainly not conducive to outdoor activities due to heavy downpours until the late afternoon when the sun finally made an appearance and our holly bush very much proved to be my friend for blip purposes as the light created these shapes and shadows and highlighted the just recently fallen raindrops.
Supporting Scotland at a major tournament (at least the very few that we manage to qualify for) is usually a recipe for heartache, frustration, exasperation and in some instances downright anger. Sadly but no less predictably that was certainly the case with last night's inaugural game at the Euros. We looked way off the pace form the start, tactically naive, outfought and outthought and were 3 - 0 down by half time and down to ten men. At that point I pulled off my Scotland shirt and turned the telly off (we eventually lost 5 -1). Plus ca change! I'm not holding out much hope for the rest of the tournament either based on that rather pitiful performance! :-( The only saving grace was as ever the wonderful support of the Tartan Army and their rendition of Flower of Scotland before kick-off was enough to give anyone goosebumps!
