Now, as I see it......

Bang!

Our builders weren't prepared to vary their standard kitchen layout when we bought the house but we thought we could put up with it.  The cooker they provided was just a standard size where we had previously been used to a larger range cooker, and it had two small ovens which are fine most of the time but there is no way we would be able to fit in a turkey if we wanted one at Christmas.  I don't know if you recall the container ship the 'Ever Given' that ran aground in the Suez Canal in early 2021?  Well, the granite worktop that we had chosen got stuck on a ship behind it so we had to choose something else at very short notice.  It wasn't ideal but we put up with it for quite a while but W finally said that she hated the work surface and would like to replace it. I agreed, so long as, if we were spending that much, we reconfigured the kitchen so we could get a range cooker in.  The work starts on Friday and once the units have been rearranged and a couple of new units installed, they will take a template for the new work surface which should be installed a couple of weeks later.  I have to say we are really looking forward to having it done.

We are out tomorrow so we spent today starting to clear down all the cupboards and drawers and give them a good clean.  It's amazing how much stuff you accumulate in a kitchen and most of it is now spread around the house.  It will be a bit chaotic for a couple of weeks but hopefully, it will be worth it.

I realised late in the day that I didn't have a blip but then spotted these dead seed heads in the garden being highlighted by the late afternoon sun.  They rather remind me of fireworks!
