Nursery

… and one for grass (extra)

A good effort over three days of turning some rough, weedy, compacted, clayey ground and seeding. Fingers crossed. Bloomin’ ‘hot.

Filling in later …
We finished off seeding and watering and then it was time to head home.
Epic journey which involved delays all along the way. Left at 4pm and home at half past midnight, catching a very delayed last train to Glasgow having missed my planned train by 4 minutes (in spite of legging it to try to get to the platform). Ended up on a delayed train heading to Blackpool stopping at every conceivable station (who’s heard of Blackrod? And where on earth did that name come from?). Got off at Preston. Told the last train didn’t exist anymore. Told it did but was lost. Told it was very delayed. Then there was no one and I wondered what a night on Preston station would be like. Then a random Lancaster train showed up. I jumped on that thinking it’s a bit closer. Driver said there’s no more trains after that. Got off at a desolate Lancaster station where the station manager said there was another train out there and expected at 11.30. He proceeded to walk me up and down the platform, showed me the braking systems, the audible systems, the freight systems, the knock-on from the Manchester airport problems, the video he sent to his mate in Dubrovnik who couldn’t get back, the axil heat sensors, train journeys he’s known in Europe, the Tebay crash, the …, the …
I wondered how I’d quite managed to slip into this parallel, slightly dystopian, version of Platform 9 3\4 after about 3hours sleep (at the most) last night. Slightly shell shocked I stumbled out into a black benighted and silent Penrith and put one foot in front of the other and walked to work where I’d left the car … and drove home. Phew!
Work tomorrow …
