Brampton Bryan

Late afternoon walk with the spaniel at Brampton Bryan. This is the first Herefordshire village we come to heading south out of Shropshire. It is a wonderful example of a classic English parkland estate with ancient and veteran trees set in a natural bowl of hills. The estate has never been sold having been granted by William the Conqueror to Ralph de Mortimer shortly after the Norman Conquest and has been in the same family since 1309. We climbed the hill hoping to see our own property from the top but it was obscured by the woodland.
