A view from Jeanneb

The last ..

of the church wedding pictures I promise!
Arriving for this morning’s service, after a lovely evening at tge Craiglands in Ilkley,  there was an amazing scent from the previous day’s wedding flowers. So much so that our curate Anna had the sneezes whilst giving the sermon.

There was a slight shift to green and white flowers for the blessing that took place in the afternoon. The window decorations followed this theme with one or two birdcages on each. I’m intrigued by the use of these at weddings. Yesterday the bride was from Viet Nam so I could have assumed an eastern connection but years ago when looking for a venue for Grace and John we looked at a barn where all the tables had huge bird cage decorations. (They also had the weird chair covers that Grace didn't like)  The whole  thing was sold as a package and when we asked what happened if we didn’t want some of these things they were perplexed and said it would have to be negotiated. We didn't use that venue but I suspect there would have been no reduction in cost.

I’m not saying I don’t like them particularly just wonder where their use originates from.

A lovely sunny afternoon but I did walk up to church this morning  in a fine mist of drizzle with some dark clouds around.

A year ago we were just starting the Big birthday celebrations in the Lake District. That year has passed so quickly!
