A Day Worth Recording

Yay, we're on holiday.  Well, OK, it's 2 nights about an hour away from home, in Shrewsbury, but when your business mostly happens when everyone else has a weekend, you take what you can get.

Shrewsbury had been on the edge of our B&B search area but we never got around to visiting, so we thought we do so as a midweek break.

En-route, vaguely having the NT property Attingham in mind, we stumbled across Dudmaston Hall just thinking it would do for lunch.

The warm welcome we received steered us to both explore the hall and to take up the offer of a free garden tour.  We were probably there for over three hours but it didn't seem like it.

Slightly amused by the wildly different art preferences of the past owners - hers for floral art, his for modern art.  The garden has several sculptures by Anthony Twentyman (no, I hadn't either) mostly tucked away in corners so the wife didn't have to see them much.

The main blip is "Avant" (The Future) by Andreu Alfaro.  The tree in the extra was the spectacular dogwood tree - the finale of the garden tour.

Thence onward to our B&B in Shrewsbury.  One even older than ours!
