New Finkins

A day many of us had been looking forward to for the last month, the opening of the new Finkins. Finkins has taken over the ground floor of what used to be The Red Lion on the corner of Shepshed marketplace and Hallcroft.

A big crowd assembled before 9.30 am for the official opening by Amy, the owner. She's managed a really good job. The interior is very tastefully decorated, there are so many more tables and space BUT still no garden for dog owners yet. I'm assured that it's coming. We could at least sit outside to drink our lattes and eat our toasted sandwiches. Basil was at last treated to a sausage. He's missed out on that since early May.

The weather continues warm, and tiring. I'd resolved to take a photo of the Love in a Mist which has flowered in the trough on the front step. I haven't planted the seeds, it just self-seeded last year.

BUT, it took me almost an hour to assemble the lighting, arrange the flowers, get the camera ready, and in that time one of the flowers had wilted beyond repair. So I'm going to have to try again. I don't have many blooms coming in order to try this.

Len is watching football, of course, so I'm typing this while half listening to an mpc talk by Noel Caseje on what makes an image compelling. Actually, it was about what he thought made his photos compelling.
