The Ring

We had a last look at the Westray puffins in the morning before catching the ferry back over to Orkney Mainland.
After a quick shopping trip we headed down to the Ring of Brodgar. I went for a walk round on my own as MrKT has been in a few times. It was very quiet, but the rather grey skies took away any atmosphere. Also Heritage Scotland are managing where people walk so they can protect the ground and pathways. This means no wandering in to the centre of the ring or even on to the surrounding ditches. It’s a shame, but it is clear that the footfall is causing damage.
We revisiting a beach parkup for our overnight - great views but bad choice as we faced in to the SW winds which rattled the van all night!
