Cockles

Still on windy Westray so had a drive up the island to the airport - just to see it, and then down to a corner we’d not visiting and a walk. Found ourselves of a white sandy beach for a sit down and gaze out to the horizon. Then round to a muddy inlet where MrKT decided to go back to his sheppey days and scraped out some cockles.
They were later added to a fish stew - not sure they added any flavour, just a bit of texture!
