Phabulous, darling

Riding through town for no other reason than I could (and maybe because motorbikes are LEZ-exempt in Edinburgh), I was amazed to spot this triplet of phone boxes near the National Gallery of Scotland.  The red roofs of the kiosks are clearly an homage to the venerable K6 that we all know and love, and I think BikerBabe blipped an example a while ago.  I am a bit mystified by them though because they really look like they are just a fibreglass moulding plonked unceremoniously on top of a regular KX100 (or possibly some walk-in variant I think I read about where they didn't come with a door).

Even more amazingly, I came across another red-roofed one not very long after, but I wasn't able willing to stop to snap a pic.

Yesterday while visiting a post office during my commute, I came across a KX-series phone box that possibly holds the Guinness World Record for decrepitude, having clearly lost its door, then having been converted from phone box to defibrillator box, then having lost its defibrillator too, probably through vandalism.  I suppose if the weather carries on like it is then at least you can still stand inside it to wait out a shower.

I am now hoping for a long sleep because I started much too early today and finished much too late.
