Diary of an Edinburgher

Let there be light(s)

Today the electrician came with his young lady assistant, and fixed up our shoddy, botched (but hidden) job in the bathroom. They’ve only just left (nearly 6pm) - from 9.30 this morning. AND they were going off to another job!

A month or so ago our lights kept tripping most evenings. Easily fixed on the fuse box. But then, my easy fix didn’t work and they tripped three times one evening. Something was definitely wrong. But try to get hold of an electrician when you want one…

However, we were lucky because a friend of Elizabeth’s found he could pop round that same afternoon and check out what was wrong. He knew right away. The bathroom switches - they’re often put in by just the company tilers - whoever happens to be on the job. He is constantly amazed (and horrified) by what he finds behind the switches. He made it safe and we had the ambient lights until now.

But they were actually dangerous. AND the wrong downlights were used - not safe in a damp environment. SOOO, we will be gathering our evidence and popping in to visit the bathroom company very soon.

JR came home from the gym and couldn’t have her usual breakfasts so we popped round to Red Box, where she waxed lyrical about the granola bowl.

Watched tennis - well done those two British lads!
