Puffins

I went up to Birsay Bay and walked along to the Point of Buckquoy. It has been a while since I walked over to the Brough of Birsay, and the tide was going out so I headed over. A little bit wet underfoot still, which probably helped hold visitors back and there were only a couple of people already over there. This allowed me to see a few puffins before the hordes arrived. I took a few of these birds then found a party of schoolkids right behind me! Their teacher was keeping them quiet, though, so I think the birds were undisturbed. One of these puffins was on the cliff and its mate flew up and they started the billing that is part of their bonding rituals. The extra is one of gathering nesting material.
