Beacon Tarn

We set off to try and bag Yew Bank, a Wainwright outlying fell but bracken obscured the paths and we gave up. Never mind , we walked back to Beacon Tarn to meet up with my swimming chums for our normal Monday evening swim.Water temperature only 17°C . At this time of year we would expect these shallow tarns to be at least 20 which is what I'd told Mr P to expect. He bravely got in and managed a few strokes. He says he was in for at least 3 minutes!
