Heron on the move

Into Huddersfield this morning to meet Lucy. I lent her my walking poles a while ago for a trek in the Scottish Highlands, and she found them so useful that I offered to give her some for her birthday. She's off again on Monday to walk the three peaks, so we decided that they would be a very early birthday present so she can use them then. We had a very pleasant lunch at the café in Byrom Arcade, before she caught the train to Dewsbury (to see her dad, who's in hospital there), and I caught the bus home.

MrM and I walked into Holmfirth later to watch the Arts Festival Parade. Fortunately, the rain stopped just before the parade started, though I suspect that the dreadful weather earlier in the day had kept people away. (For last year's parade, on a bright, warm day, the place was packed.) It was quite a spectacle, and it's a shame that we didn't have time afterwards to watch the events in the park. MrM was playing for a ceilidh again this evening, and I'd offered to make a meal before he left.

Yesterday evening, while MrM was out, I watched the first episode of Lost Boys and Fairies. Tonight I watched the second, and then the concluding third episode. What a tear jerker!
