Bowhead whale & calf

Day 7. Feeling better this morning and we had travelled a lot further north to 80° 70’, during the night to get back into the pack ice to look for whales and bears. Had a quick meeting about what we need to do when the ship docks before spending some time looking for whales and polar bears. Not much to see today but there was an Arctic fox on the pack ice, seems they do live on the ice sometimes, and a few seals. Spent some time outside looking for polar bears and whales with no luck so gave up and came in to get warm, we were just getting ready for the evening briefing when someone spotted another bowhead whale, and it turned out she has a calf in tow. They managed to get the ship turned around and a bit closer before they headed further into the ice flow. BBQ on the back of the ship tonight, which was nice and then an early night.
