Blackbird pie

I rarely photograph food but this dish is a bit special in my family. I made it for my daughter and her husband who stayed with me this weekend. It’s a huge favourite from my kids’ childhood when I was devising ways to interest them in green vegetables. And so blackbird pie was born.
It’s puff pastry filled with spinach, onions, garlic, tinned tuna and warm spices. The blackbird is, of course, for steam but it was such a novelty to my children that it immediately became integral to the pie. I dare not mess with it at all.

We’ve had a whole day with no rain! It’s been warm and mostly sunny, which has been a delight. I hope you’ve all enjoyed your weekends.
