A morning’s work
I’m not a great fan of DIY as usually I get halfway through a job and find I haven’t got the necessary tool or the job is more complicated than anticipated or I need some materials. That then requires a trip into town only to find that what is required is not available! Repairing clocks used to be good because I was rarely got stuck like this. However needs must. Water was pouring from under the sink. To gain access, I had to remove shelving, and of course all the screws were rusted in. Then I undid all the joints and liberally applied two part epoxy resin where the plastic was broken. A friend came round and supplied me with a washer. I reassembled everything and one joint continued to leak, but when I tightened it some more, the leak appeared to stop. I think it will only be a temporary fix, but at least now it will not do more than occasionally drip. I then had a run in with Orange. Trying to help a friend, I had to give Orange my French mobile as my friends only have an English mobile and that does not work for contact in France. I eventually got the call from Orange only to be told that the technician was running late and the appointment was cancelled. I remade an appointment for Tuesday and then realised that the call would come through when I am in Spain next week and might not work on my cheap French contract. I then had to phone Orange again to give a fixed line for the technician to contact. Apparently if you do not reply to the technician’s call, they assume that you are not available and they don’t come! In the afternoon I played tennis with two friends who have just arrived on holiday. This evening we have a bell ringers’ barbecue which should be fun.
