Cuzco

After breakfast we strolled down to the Cathedral, which was absolutely heaving. There’s some kind of festival on at the moment where various Saints have been carried down in procession from their home churches and installed in state along the Cathedral nave for a week or so and plenty of people were taking the opportunity to visit them. We strolled through San Francisco and up to Santa Clara, into the bustling Central Market and then walked up the hill to San Blas to visit the craft shops before engaging in another, probably ill-advised, steep hike up to the Incan remains at Saqsaywaman. We rewarded ourselves with ice cream on the way back down and later on we went out to a vegan restaurant, Chai, for our first proper meal for a day or two…!
