Grim and Grimmer. Waiting on a Glimmer.
Payback time. First thing (07.05 hrs) the wind was up at 36 mph from the sooth east, with added lashing rain. The Current Mrs Creel received a call to say the crossing of the first Hoy boat had been cancelled. We utilised the time by completing the accounts statement for the Friends of the Hoy Kirk. We then really pushed well beyond all known human boundaries by engaging (via WhatsApp and landline) with the bank, to try and sort out the account mandate problem. The self-same bank indicates that at one and the same time that our mandate is OK ; but we will also have to open a new account. Which cannot be done in Orkney. Help ma Boab. Which is not what I said. Even CMC used an invective. We were told our local branch cannot help. We spoke to eight ‘advisors’. All of them were in Birmingham. In a bizarre twist one of them revealed the Ellon STD code. CMC is a trooper and departed on the 4.00pm boat to take across lots of soup and homebakes to the Hoy Kirk Reels and Jigs. Bibs spent the day on the bed. Harry has been in the airing cupboard for ten hours. I think he may be struggling with his crossword (the Times has a new ‘setter’). It’s no wonder his purring has stopped. I wish you all good weekends and hope you don’t have to try and open online Business Bank Accounts. Ever.
