All on a Cold June Morning
I had a coffee and chat with one of my book group this morning in the Futures Institute (no apostrophe in the title) followed by a wander round the building where my friend once worked as a nurse. We were left wondering if it will ever live up to its promotion as a hub of industry and ideas. At the moment it’s a huge space with little footfall but it has hardly opened so I expect we are being a bit too prescient in our opinions. I certainly know where I will go with my laptop in the cold winter months to keep warm.
All this sociability happened after a crack of dawn plunge in the Forth at Porty- high tide, gentle westerly breeze and calm sea, but feeling colder than of late both in and out. A great way to shake off the cobwebs and contemplate the meaning of life and in particular the timing required to get dressed and catch the #45 bus home at 7:12am. You might think we were the only mad women on the beach at 6:15am but you would be wrong. There were the three girls in the blip wading in as we arrived and a man already swimming just out of the frame.
With the ever present threat of publicised rain, after lunch I did a little gardening by cutting back the cotoneaster threatening take over the patio and then repotting Princess Avocado into a larger pot. Pea and Piddles seem happy enough in their present pots. Some people have children, some people have dogs and cats but I have avocado plants, so much easier.
