Life's Little Moments

Tender Moment

This is always one of my favorite times of the year - when the garden is full of haggard Downy Woodpecker parents feeding fluffy, plump fledglings.  This female and her daughter did me a favor by lining up on nearly the same focal plane, allowing decent focus on both.  Downy parents make a very distinctive noise when they have babies nearby; I've always believed it to be the way they communicate to the youngsters that they are getting ready to feed them.  In response, the fledglings have a soft pic-pic-pic noise that they make.  Honestly, it makes you feel like the world is just a better place in that moment.

I finally called and made an appointment with an allergist for myself.  I'd like to find out what it is that I'm allergic to and how best to treat it.  It seems like I've been feeling moderate to crummy for the last 2 months and I don't want to repeat this again next year.  To my surprise, they were able to get me in next Thursday.  Very pleased.

This afternoon I did a yoga class via zoom and then went over to the park to walk and "bug" for about an hour and a half.  As usual, I lost myself in the tiny world of invertebrates, something some of you will understand and others will tolerate with a smile and shake of the head.  Believe me, no one is more surprised than me how much I've come to love inverts!

Last night's movie was "Miracle" which was about the 1980 US Olympics Hockey Team and their unexpected win agains the USSR.  Very enjoyable.
