Accumulation

Indirectly inspired by PaulaJ's stack of books, but also the fact that I'd taken no photos today. This is only a tiny fraction of the cookbooks accumulated over the last 40 years or so. Three shelves here and another entire bookcase upstairs for the "reserve collection". Perhaps I ought to get rid of some of them. But I think winnowing the fiction is more urgent, because there are hundreds of those, and S refuses to build any more shelves.

I do have a series of "neglected cookbooks" on my blog; perhaps it's time to add to it again. Of the books in this blip, Nadine Abensur's Crank's Bible and the Roux brothers' French Country Cooking would qualify. Oh, and Ursula Ferrigno's Bringing Italy Home.

Today I took S to the airport for his flight to the UK (mum-visiting time). He's now in Huddersfield staying overnight with G and A, having just spent the weekend with G in Laruns.

And finally, in political news, the political committee of Les Républicains expressed their intention to meet today to sack leader Eric Ciotti for unilaterally deciding to ally the party with Marine Le Pen. The last I heard he'd barricaded himself into the party office to stop them meeting. "He won't be leader by 4 pm today," threatened one of them. Off to check the latest in this soap opera. The left seem to be quite organised in comparison.
