If you squint you can see the Matterhorn….

We are in Zermatt, where the weather forecast for tomorrow is splendid so if we don’t see the Matterhorn properly then we never shall. Before that though, there is snow forecast tonight.

We had a very scenic train journey from Geneva, all along the lake and then the last stretch up the steep valley to Zermatt was glorious in the sun. We aren’t quite in high season yet so Zermatt is not as busy as I expected. It’s very pretty but you know you’re in crazy land when the little main street has a Patek Philippe shop.

My mum remains in hospital, she has pneumonia now but is responding well to the IV antibiotics and is much more alert today. I think it will be a long recovery, which is such a shame as she was doing so well.
