Happy (belated) Birthday, America!

We had a party. And it was way too much fun! Even the sun came out to play :)

While it was a couple days after the actual holiday, we could not have asked for more perfect conditions to invite 60 or so of our nearest and dearest international friends over to grill burgers and hot dogs, try red and blue jello shots, and cause a general raucous uproar in the neighborhood. The entire house was swathed in red, white, and blue. Most of our guests came in coordinating colors, and even much of the food reflected the national theme.

My friend Emma (creator of the dragon cake and baby block cakes) made a fabulous layered cake that when sliced open, had red and white stripes with a blue square in the upper corner to represent the US Flag - it was amazing! Good times, great friends. Lucky me :)
