Atlanta

I arrived in Atlanta last night.  It was late when I got to the hotel and the room smelled a bit stale and the air con didn't work well.  I just decided to ignore it and hit the sack.  After a very hot night daylight didn't make the room seem any better.  They offered me another room which still smelled, still had ineffective aircon, had a light fitting hanging off the wall and some nasty stains on the couch.  So I checked out and moved somewhere better (which only cost a few dollars extra).  So much for our "travel advisors".

Atlanta is so hot there are enclosed bridges between many buildings so you can move around without leaving the air conditioned cool.  This is the view up from the lobby of another hotel I passed through as part of this network on the way to dinner.  Spectacular.

Had a really interesting chat this evening with the cop I'm presenting alongside tomorrow.  As well as doing digital forensics, he is the handler for an electronics sniffer dog, trained to sniff out hidden phones and computer equipment in suspects homes.  Fascinating work.
