Damsels

For our walk today , we revisited Clints Quarry and Longlands Lake.
The quarry was fairly quiet, the ponies have gone, no signs of the Kingfisher, the fish or the Buzzards. There was a Four Spotted Chaser (extras) so it was worth getting the wellies on.
Longlands lake was alive with insects and damsels, there were thousands of them.

I found this pair in the "tandem position" where the male's claspers are locked onto the female's thorax until she lays her eggs. This way he can ward off other potential males. They can fly around in this position which must take some coordinating.

Solo male and female damsels in extra.
