An aquilegia, which self seeded

This plant arrived in a rather large pot on the patio, which itself had been overrun with weeds. I saw the long stalk produced some flowers some weeks ago, and they quickly turned into seed pods.

Now a new stem has produced this beautiful flower, whose colour is almost certainly a product of random cross-pollination. We have several aquilegia plants in odd places in the garden but they are all 'volunteers'. I haven't bought any aquilegias into the garden for more than ten years. But they are all very welcome as long as they can look after themselves.
