Three thrushes

...  (I've never seen so many together) appeared suddenly outside the window: one adult and two juveniles. Under the parent's watchful eye, one of the youngsters was repeatedly dashing a snail to the ground, apparently without success. I didn't dare move for fear of startling them. At last, when they moved off, and I did investigate, I saw lots of bits of broken shell, so one of them obviously found success eventually.

My camera was out of reach. My phone had a job to focus through the window from well back inside the room, hand shaking as ever. So I've played my usual trick with imperfect photos: I've added an arty filter, this time a 'dry brush' treatment. Thus I present 'Essence of Thrush', so you get a glimpse of the action!

Dull but mainly dry today. I harvested some rhubarb and added it to garden-apple from the freezer with a crumble and custard on top. This was preceded by stuffed peppers, baked potatoes and coleslaw - basically using up what needs eating up from the fridge. I quite like that sort of meal; it makes a change!
