Comrades day

A special day on the SA calendar with thousands of runners challenging themselves on the annual ultra marathon. This year it was the upwards run, from Durban to Pietermaritzburg, a mere 85kms.

This 12 hour bus is a combination of various standards of long distance runners with the aim to complete the race within the 12 hour cut off time as a group. And they did, but heartbreaking for those just steps away when the gun is shot, and the Last Post blown on the bugle.

We watched a lot of it with breaks for a walk with the pooches, some soup made for this week’s supper, and a curry enjoyed in the last of the days sunshine.
