A walk to the shops then remembered that I’d put garden recycling in the car boot yesterday so it didn’t get wet overnight. Drove to the tip with that then spent 10 minutes dead heading some lupins and pulling weeds out. It was too cold to stay out longer.

In the afternoon a bus ride to Grasmere. Saw lots of cars on the sports field so walked along the riverside to investigate. Spotted these three mergansers swimming by.

The cars seemed to be part of a Ford Escort rally. There was a fence in the way but I managed some photos and there’s a collage in extras if anyone prefers cars to ducks.
