Moving swiftly on
I braved the gale force...gales and cycled into town for various possible things but decided that I wasn't in the mood for clothes shopping, or people in general, so went to Paper Tiger to look for birthday card ideas for Boy Wonder. He's not due for a while yet but frankly, I needed an excuse for a bike ride.
Curiosity getting the better of me, I went over to Roseburn Park to see what it was like, given that the pop starlet is doing three nights in a row at Murrayfield Stadium. Well, what you have is two dozen street traders trying to sell you pink cowboy hats and pink feather boas while simultaneously blocking the cycle lane, you have hi-viz everywhere, a lot of people wearing sparkly and/or pink clothes, and a lot of people already in the queue, sitting down amongst the crowd barriers in the photo. And it was only lunchtime!
More interesting if you ask me is the old Glenfield & Kennedy foundry drinking fountain that was next to where I was sitting. G&K Ltd also cast the one that is under the Balfour memorial at Newcraighall. Sadly, neither that one nor this one work anymore.
I rode straight(ish) home after that, noting another KX100 kiosk that I will keep in mind for a Phuture Phonebox Phriday, and also for the blipbank, another artwork by Andy Scott of Kelpies fame!
