Fingal the bearded collie

Fingal is our host at Mr hazelh's uncle and aunt's house just north of Oban. We're here for one night before our trip to Mull tomorrow.

We played two games of Scrabble on the ferry from Coll, with one win each. It was another lovely, smooth sailing.

On arrival on the mainland, we were shocked at the temperature. It was so cold! We grabbed prawn sandwiches from the pier for our lunch, then cycled a short way out of town to eat them in the freezing cold on a bench next to Dunollie Castle.

In the middle of the 'steep gradient' path we stopped to phone one of Mr hazelh's old workmates who had sent us a message when we were on the ferry. The job done, we then sped as fast as we could to the warmth of our accommodation at the other side of the Connel bridge.

We are at the Old Inn this evening, as is the tradition whenever we stay with John and Jane.

Exercise today: 10 mile cycle ride.
