Our Wild Patch

Len wasn't kidding yesterday when he said there was a magnificent foxglove (extra) right round the corner of the house. It's growing in a patch of nettles, toadflax and yellow poppies.

It has a companion foxglove which is being visited by bumblebees. I was too slow to capture one crawling into one of the flowers.

I'd gone outside in my slippers which was a mistake really because I am not that steady on my crutch. Should have changed into some sturdy shoes.

Jack came to look after the pond and clean the pump. He's put in some desilting stuff which we hope will clarify the water a bit. There's lots of tadpoles apparently. At an earlier job this. morning, he'd been able to take photos of a dragonfly emerging from its case. Wonderful. I feel it's just a bit too cold yet for dragonflies to emerge. Perhaps it depends on the length of the day rather than the temperature.

Yes, it's chilly. I've had to put on a sweater.

Basil has been to see Nan for a bath and haircut. He's looking much sleeker. Len had forgotten to pick up his flea treatment when he last went to the vet, so that's this afternoon's assignment.
