Escape from Waverley

Another of those long days, but rewarding. I started off with an early peloton workout, and then rushed around making sure I had everything before leaving the house to listen in to a meeting as I got the bus in. Plenty of other morning meetings, some of greater utility than others.

Over lunch, I listened in to a hybrid event in London covering the teaching of EU law in UK universities (well, mostly English ones, which is what I was interested in), before I welcomed some colleagues to the School and made my own escape.

Waverley was busy, but mostly with people arriving (presumably for Taylor Swift and other touristic reasons) rather than leaving. I was on an LNER train to Inverness, which was pretty busy as far as Perth, but fine from then onwards. It's been a while since I was in the standard carriages of an LNER train, but I survived :-) (and got plenty of work done). Mr A was waiting in Inverness and we had a smooth journey back to Tain. A dram and then bed.

It's obviously a good weekend not to be in Edinburgh if you aren't a Taylor Swift fan (and if you don't want to be overrun). Looking forward to a quiet weekend in the north, from which vantage point I can survey, with reasonable equanimity, the wreckage of UK politics and the damage that successive governments have wrought using Universities as a site of culture wars .
