Spiral

The bottom of a little basket made from telephone wires in South Africa...
a gift from my neighbor who is from Capetown.

The dental saga is (almost) over. When they had to cancel my new patient appointment of Tuesday because of a system wide computer meltdown, they promised that I had priority for a new appointment as soon as the problem was fixed and they could get into their schedule.
They were true to their word calling yesterday and offering me an appointment for today. Then they called back and said they could schedule a cleaning after my new patient visit with the dentist. I said ok.
In the end I had a new filling done after the cleaning.

I liked the dentist, followed everywhere by his beautiful Australian shepherd, Ash.The hygenist was fine and didn't give me any lectures about flossing . The new filling was a replacement for one done by the old dentist for a chipped tooth which I've hated since the day he did it, but he was practically never around to do anything about it. I also had an x-ray of my head and every tooth in it.

The only bad news was that he thinks I might have an infection around a root canal I had done at least 60 years ago. He said they don't do root canals that way anymore and that he had never seen one.... I'm to take my antique root canal to a root canal specialist for evaluation. A mouth infection and a knee replacement are not a good combination. I'm supposed to take a whopping dose of antibiotics before I go the the dentist, even for a cleaning. Maybe the dose I took today will take care of the infection, or maybe it will turn out not to be an infection at all.

As a result of three hours with my mouth open, I'm knackered and ready for dinner...whatever that turns out to be....
