Downtown Mural

I met Kathy for lunch downtown after class today. at a very good Chinese restaurant downtown. The air conditioning was most welcome as we are still in a heatwave...not beyond the pale here though the weather people do wax rather dramatic about it .We are fortunate enough to be able to go from one air conditioned place to another (including our car) so it could be a lot worse. And I'm sure it is worse for people who don't have that kind of access to cool air. An article in the paper went on about the heat with pictures of people frolicking in public fountains and proceeded to say that the county hadn't opened cooling centers yet because the weather 'didn't meet the established parameters yet'. Wait, what?

But I digress. Kathy and I were on a mission to buy some backing and sashing for the quilt I'm making for her. We went in her car because my Disabled Persons parking placard is still in effect and allows me to park at a meter without paying. As we were making our way through the almost deserted streets of the downtown (Not even the original Russian River Brewery can save it) we came across this huge mural around two sides of an empty parking lot. Kathy pulled over and we looked at it for awhile, ultimately deciding that the person who painted it had to have been taking mushrooms! .I liked the palm tree standing up on the other side of the building.

I'm home now and happy to say that all I had to do to turn on the air conditioning side of the heat pump was press 'cool'. I think I can program it to go from one to the other automatically,  but reading the manual yet again is a task for another day.
