Terns at Cemlyn

I have to say I’m almost photo-ed out! We’re seeing so much beauty here on Anglesey and I’m taking so many shots, it’s getting nigh on impossible to sort out what I’ve taken. - but it’s a good problem to have!

Thanks so much for the response to yesterday’s sunset shots. Today’s been a less tiring day, but no less rewarding.

We’ve finally made it to Cemlyn Bay to see the terns - another first for us. It’s wonderful to watch these aerial acrobats flying back and forth. While most people seem to congregate on the shingle bank near the breeding islands, I’m more interested in watching the birds flying back from fishing missions in the sea or the lagoon. It’s mostly the elegant sandwich terns I photograph - hardly surprising as they’re by far the most numerous there. Mostly, it’s shots against the paleness of the sky, but flying back from the still waters of the lagoon,  they fly against a background of green vegetation and wild flowers, dripping water from their feathers, spinning in midair to dry as fellow blipper Jenny Owen noticed a few weeks back.

Apologies for yet another very late posting - and another set …….!
